Where are my shipments? How do I track them? LTL shipments: LTL shipments can be tracked by calling our customer service representatives at (801) 906-3500 or (800) 221-1318. Intermodal shipments: Intermodal shipments can be tracked by contacting a member of the UW Intermodal team at (801) 952-9244 or (800) 221-1318, or by e-mail at intermodial@uwfl.com.
How long do most shipments take? Most shipments take 1-2 days, depending on the point-to-point locations. For further details, check the cities and states that UW services.
What should I do if my shipment is lost or damaged? You must submit a formal, written request to UW Freight Line requesting reimbursement for lost or damaged freight. This is done by completing a Standard Form for Presentation of Loss and Damage Claim form. If you are unable to download the claim form, call UW at (801) 906-3500 or (800) 221-1318 and we will fax, mail, or e-mail a form to you. After you have completed the claim form, submit it by mail or by fax to the Salt Lake City UW terminal. You must also include the following paperwork:
Failure to include all of the above items will result in a denied claim. Once all items are received, the claims process will begin. Our address, phone, and fax are listed below. Freight charges must also be paid before you will be given a refund. Claims must be filed within nine months of delivery. No exceptions will be made on this time limit. If your shipment has sustained concealed damage, you must notify our OS&D or Claims Department within 15 days of delivery. No exceptions will be made on this time limit. Law suits must be instituted within two years and one day from the date UW denies a claim in writing or any portion thereof.
How long does it take to complete a claim? By law, UW has 30 days to respond to your claim. UW also has 120 days to complete your claim. Typically, many claims are completed within 3 weeks; however, each case is different and we may need more or less time to complete your claim.
How long can I wait to file a claim on a shortage? A claim for shortage must be filed within nine months of delivery. No exceptions will be made on this time limit.
Whom should I contact about a shortage? In the case of a shortage, two parties should be contacted:
For example, you have ordered several items from Joe's Supply Shop. When you receive your shipment from UW, some of your items are missing. In this case, you should call UW and ask if any of your items are still at our terminal. You should also call Joe's Supply Shop and ask if all of your items have been shipped from that location.
